Trump Travels to Beijing with Major US Business Leaders for Summit with Xi

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump is traveling to China accompanied by a group of high-profile American business executives ahead of a scheduled summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Among those on board Air Force One are Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who reportedly joined the delegation during a refueling stop in Anchorage, Alaska, according to reports. A White House travel pool report confirmed Huang’s last-minute inclusion.

Trump also acknowledged Huang’s presence in a post on Truth Social.

Other executives accompanying the president include Apple CEO Tim Cook, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, Cargill CEO Brian Sikes, Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser, GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, among others.

The president said his “very first request” to Xi would be to encourage broader access for American companies in the Chinese market, describing it as a move he believes could strongly benefit both economies.

The visit, scheduled for May 13–15, marks the first trip by a US president to China since 2017. It was initially planned for April but was postponed due to the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, according to reports.

Key topics expected on the agenda include trade relations, Taiwan, artificial intelligence, and ongoing geopolitical tensions. Negotiations between US and Chinese officials have reportedly been ongoing for months in preparation for the summit.

Beijing is expected to place particular emphasis on US policy regarding Taiwan, while Washington is expected to press for progress on trade issues and broader regional security concerns, including developments linked to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
