U.S. Targets Iran's Shadow Fleet with Fresh Sanctions
Washington imposed sanctions on 31 targets total—15 corporate entities, two individual operatives, and 14 maritime vessels—all allegedly operating within Iran's covert "shadow fleet" that circumvents international restrictions.
According to an official State Department release, authorities identified the network as a critical revenue pipeline funding Tehran's destabilizing operations. "These targets have generated revenue that the regime uses to conduct its malign activities," the statement declared.
Rather than channeling resources toward domestic needs and deteriorating public infrastructure, officials accused Iran's government of prioritizing external agitation. Tehran "continues to fund destabilizing activities around the world and step up its repression inside Iran," the department asserted.
The announcement carried a stern warning: American enforcement actions will persist indefinitely while Iran deploys sanction-evasion tactics to extract oil and petrochemical profits that bankroll "oppressive behavior, terrorist activities and proxies."
The coordinated crackdown represents Washington's latest effort to choke off Tehran's financial lifelines amid escalating regional tensions and Iran's continued support for militant organizations across the Middle East.
