Mass Shooting at Stockton Birthday Party Leaves Four Dead
“Shortly before 6:00 p.m., our dispatch center received reports of a shooting that occurred near the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue in Stockton. We can confirm at this time that approximately 14 individuals were struck by gunfire, and four victims have been confirmed deceased," the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office stated on the US social media platform X.
Authorities noted that the investigation is "very active" and ongoing, adding that details remain scarce at this stage.
"Early indications suggest this may be a targeted incident, and investigators are exploring all possibilities. Detectives are actively working to determine the circumstances leading up to this tragedy," the office added.
Vice Mayor Jason Lee revealed that the shooting occurred during a child’s birthday celebration and expressed deep sorrow over the event.
"As Vice Mayor of Stockton — and as someone who grew up in this community — I am devastated and angry to learn about the mass shooting at a child’s birthday party," he posted on Facebook.
Lee also mentioned that he has been coordinating with staff and public safety officials and pledged to seek answers to understand the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
No details regarding a potential suspect have been released to the public.
